How To Add Search Descriptions to Posts in Blogger?

This tutorial explains us how to add individual search description to Blogger posts. 

Blogger platform is gaining some advanced features on overall SEO on search engines. We already saw that Blogger has already released settings for search preferences. Earlier, it was really a tedious job to add meta tags and meta description to individual posts by adding them one by one on the Blogger template HTML using if conditional statements. That method used to downgrade the blog load time and not a better SEO strategy. But now, we have a great option for optimizing the posts to our tunes.

As adding Search descriptions to Blogger posts can be confusing at the start, because it is too new to be explored. I myself got confused on how to get the option of adding individual descriptions to posts.

Enable Search Description for your Blog:

Step 1: Go to Blogger Dashboard > Choose Blog > Click "Settings" > Find "Search Preference" and click it.

Step 2: If this is the first time you are going to this setting. Then you you should see the "Meta Tags" Description is disabled as shown below:

Click on "Edit" and "Enable". Then click "Save Changes" as shown:

At this point, you can input the super duper description of your Blog and save. This description will be displayed on Search engine results.

Search Description for Blogger Posts:

Once the Blog's search description is enabled, you automatically get the "Search Description" option on your individual posts. Easy right?

Step 1: Click on edit of any of your old post. And Check the "Post Settings".
You should see "Search Description" option has come up magically.

Step 2: Click on "Search Description" and type in your description of the post to be displayed on the search engines. Click on "Done".

Yes now you are completely done. :-) Now, it is time to either "Update" or "Publish" the post.
If it is an old post, and you are updating it now, then it needs to be re-indexed again by search engines to take effect.
