Google
has been working really very hard to make Blogger a very solid,
efficient and effective platform for bloggers from every end of the
world. In the very beginning stages of a blog, Search Engine
Optimization plays a very vital role in the growth of a blog. It's
really difficult for newbies, who doesn't have any knowledge regarding
SEO, to let the search engines know that they've got an awesome blog out
there and their blog should be monitored and indexed in the search
engines among the top web pages listed. Keeping that in mind, Blogger
has announced their new update regarding the Customization of Search
Preferences. These Search Preferences made it very easy for bloggers to
add Meta Tags to their blogs, to set Errors plus redirection and
Crawlers and Indexing.
Find the New SEO Options!
In the new Blogger UI, under the Settings tab you'd notice "Search Preferences"
Under the Search Preferences, you'd
find Three sections i.e Meta Tags, Errors plus redirection and Crawlers
and Indexing. (as Shown below)
Add the Description Meta Tag!
Once
you get to the Search Preferences, Under Meta Tags you'd find
"Description". Click on Edit and make it enabled. In the Box, Add your
Blog's Description!

After
Enabling the Description feature, you'd notice Search Description for
individual posts. Just type in the description for that specific post
that you're writing.

Add a Custom "Page Not Found" (404 error) Message!
Under
the Errors and redirections, you'd find "Custom Page Not Found". Click
on edit and enter an HTML message that will be displayed on the Page Not
Found page instead of the generic message.

Some Additional SEO tools
While most of the new features by Blogger are located in the Settings tab, a few others can be found in the post editor.
1. Alt and Title Tags for Images:
Once you've added an image to a post, click on it to view the options. You'd find Properties, click on that.

2. The Rel="nofollow" Attribute.
When
you try to edit a link or add a new link to text, you'll notice a new
feature the Rel="Nofollow" attribute. If the link is external, then
check the box next to "Add rel=nofollow attribute". Checking this box
means that you don’t want this link to be considered when web crawlers
are searching for information they’ll use to index your page.
This update from Blogger is very efficient (specially for the beginners) and I think it's a complete set of SEO tools for 'em. I need your feedback regarding this one and if you've any query just drop it in the comment box below, I'll reply. Secondly make sure you subscribe to get regular updates from My Blogger Tips. Cheers :)
