I
am a bit late at announcing that Google has again rolled in an update
to PageRank. A minor update started from February 6th 2012 and continued
till February 8th 2012. Major update could occur anywhere at the end of
this month so keep hopes high. Google updates PageRank at quarterly
period, which means all webpages are gifted with a special rank once
every four months. PageRank (PR) as you know is a scale ranging from 0
to 10. A PR increase is awarded to those websites only that are well
recommended by niche websites. If your homepage receives backlinks from
other websites then your importance in the eyes of Google rapidly
increases. Blogs with higher PageRank are crawled at faster rate
compared to blogs at lower PageRank. A crawler visits any website
several times per day. Blogs that have PageRank above 5 are crawled
every minute and blogs below PR 5.0 are crawled every hour. The faster
your blog crawl rate the higher the chances to establish your rank in
search results page and higher the chances to drive traffic for your
content.
Why Your PageRank did not Increase?
This
is one question which is often asked. PageRank increase is not
sequential. A blog does not necessarily need to have at least pagerank 1
so that on next update it may receive a PR 2. A blog with pagerank 0
can jump directly to PR 4.0 depending on the number of quality
backlinks. I have written a detailed post, giving three solid reasons on
why some blogs are not lucky enough to rank higher despite working
hard. You must read this post to get familiar with PageRank utopia.
- Three Reasons why your PageRank is not increasing?
Our
blog still has a PageRank 4.0 despite receiving tons of new quality
backlinks. We now have over 1400 quality backlinks. Links from blogs as
high as PageRank6. But our pagerank remains where it is. Strange isn't
it? No one still knows how exactly does Google decides the credibility
of webpage and SEOforum along with SEomoz still agrees to the fact that
you can only smoothen the path for a good PageRank update but you may
never expect a rise every time. Since PAgeRank works on an automatic
system therefore fluctuations are part of the play.
Can your PageRank Go down the next Month?
If
you were lucky enough to be blessed with a PageRank increase , then
respect this opportunity and do not misuse your PR. Google monitors
blogs continuously after an update and schedules a Major update too
which can take a month. So this entire month of February would be a
testing period for you. If you have started selling links crazily then the chances are that you can loose it once major update occurs. I am a victim of it. Just after receiving a PageRank 4.0 last year,
we were pushed back to PageRank 3.0 the next month. One of the reasons
that I experienced was improper balance between incoming and outgoing
links. Read that entire story below:
Those who have not received a PR juice can still expect a god change throughout this month.
Is PageRank Important?
To
me nothing matters more than Alexa Rank. Alexa Rank is one of the best
ranking algorithms that filters good webpages from bad. When it comes to
whether or not PR has some significance then Matt Cutts himself tells
webmasters that Pagerank has no importance. What matters is the Quality
content. Check this interesting post below:
- Google Says PageRank is not important!
Work
on your Alexa rank. If there is anything that matters more in the eyes
of advertisers and your blog sponsors then it's the numeric value scaled
by Alexa toolbar. Read this important post to know every single detail:
- How To Find Sponsors for your blog?
Best Tip To increase PageRank?
Stop
commenting on forums, blogs and directories. All these platforms now
use nofollow tags so you are getting no value in return. The best and
most effective way is to find PageRank (>2) blogs that accept guest
posts and submit your best posts to them. One of our guest poster
received a PageRank 4 from zero just by guest posting at MBT. But kindly
do not come with short, out-dated and irrelevant topic. Give your best
shot while you are sending your guest post to a blog admin in order to
increase the chances of getting accepted. Let the admin feel that you
really respect him for his efforts, not with playful words but with the
quality of your guest post. Keep your guest post mostly focused on
social media and keep word limit higher than 1000 words. There is no way
one would reject such a dish!
My sister's wedding is tomorrow and this is one reason why MBT is late at breaking this news. Peace and blessings pals! :)
